People who can dunk: What do you do to protect your fingers?
A month ago I ripped the calluses off my fingers dunking. It's the fourth time I've done it. I was finally able to take the bandages off yesterday. This is a long and painful process, and I'm sick of it! Every time I get calluses built up they get ripped off. I've used tape and finger sleeves, any other suggestions?

Stop grabbing the rim on your way down, or start doing finger rolls. Take your pick. I'm not sure how long you've been dunking, but the better and higher you get, you should be able to avoid grabbing onto the rim so hard. Or, if you already have enough elevation, you probably just need to be more careful and make a conscious effort to avoid using your fingers so much. I never really had that particular problem, although my wrists got a little red and tore up every once in a while. Maybe jacked up fingers will just be the price you pay for throwing down all those nasty dunks. I'm sure a lot of people would love to have your problem. lol

I can dunk as well and I used to have that problem. I used to tape the areas that were liable to get hurt beforehand. Now however, I don't anymore because I have enough hops to dunk without grabbing the rim to hard. I throw it in more than dunk it really.

pretty much just toughen it out, theres not much you can do except wait to get callises and you fingers could take it better
