The best Bed...Sleep Number or...?

I am looking into buying a new mattress...the one I have now is only 3 years old but is sunken in and really is taking its toll on my back when I sleep. Of course sleep number beds come to mind, due to the comfy looking people on the commercials, but what would be best for comfort? I need a good firm one that wont sink in over time or shift the mattress around when I roll over in my sleep. Also of course I want a mattress that is durable and will last a long time. What are your opinions and suggestions?

We've had a sleep number for 15 years. What I like about it is parts can be replaced. For example I sit on the bed edge to dress or talk with hubby and have squished down the sides. I just called the company and they sent me out replacement side bumpers, I unzipped the top and exchanged the parts.....VOILA! I do find the sleep number slips around a lot since I often have the dogs join me on the bed and their combined weight seems to cause the mattress to loose air. So I have to pump it back up. If you like a super firm mattress, even the highest setting isn't enough.

Mother has the new foam mattress but finds the material too hot. She dislikes waking up in a "hole" with sweat. She had to put a special fiber mattress cover over it to eliminate the sweats. She still prefers a mattress that responds faster to her movements........not leaving the "hole".

Traditional innerspring come in a variety of qualities. Maybe you just need one with more "springs" per foot. However, I understand your problem. Often I'm relegated to a traditional innerspring bed due to hubby snoring and I'm getting a sink hole too. One can only flip and turn the mattress so many times.........

Having sold mattress', If you really want something that can help your back, and won't "nest" over time, a tempurpedic mattress is the best. The Tempurpedic does not make you "sweat." There are air chambers all throughout it. The cheaper "foam" mattress' can make you sweat. If you don't want to spend the money on one of those, Stearn's and Foster are a great mattress. People do not realize that they spend more time sleeping than doing anything else. You need to take care of your body, and it starts with a good mattress. Also, many people think that they only need to buy the mattress, and they can get away with using their old box spring. Don't try it!

My husband loves his sleep number mattress. I love my tempur-pedic mattress. Good thing we're too old to care whether we sleep in the same bed!
