Fundraising for the animal shelter?

The animal shelter I volunteer at just recently had an outbreak of ringworm. They have been saving for years for a new building(which is badly needed) and now all those funds need to be used to treat the animals! I thought it would help to set up a fundraiser, and being a high school student I couldn't probably get alot of publicity through the school. Any ideas for fundraisers besides the usual dog walk and bake sales?

Update:

Thats supposed to be could get publicity, not couldnt

Well, Halloween's coming up, what about a benefit costume ball? My local shelter does a formal dinner/dance every year, they charge I think $250 for a pair of tickets, and local businesses donate items for silent auction. They make dinner and hire a DJ or band, and one of the local hotels lets them use one of their big event rooms free of charge. I believe they usually make quite a bit of $, and people always enjoy it.

you could do a dog walk a thon that's what we do or you could have a yard sale where people bring things and you sell them as profit... there's lots of ideas...... You could put an ad in the local newspaper and hang bulleteins in public places like churches, community centers, fire departments, and vet's offices

  • What about craftwork? Find people who can knit or crochet, for example, and get them to make cat and dog toys to sell.
