Question about adding a new chicken.?

We have a small flock of 10 chickens that are about 9 weeks. We have been asked to take a single year old chicken by a friend that is moving and cannot take it.

The question is, what feed do we feed???? Our current flock is on Grower, and I assume this older one is on Layer. So what do we feed to all of them??????? We are chicken "newbies"!!!!

I was told to introduce a new chicken to a coop in the dark that way the others wont notice it and will leave it alone. As for feed you could feed it growers but as you will buy layers for your other chickens when they are old enough then maybe you could buy it now and mix it

It's probably safe to feed him Grower, but you may want to mix Layer in as well. Also, remember to throw Scratch on the ground if you don't, it helps their Crops, which is part of their digestion.
