You've got to be kidding me, right?
I answer math questions that have gone at least 15 hours without a response so that people who need more advanced help in mathematics don't fall through the cracks.
I went to answer the question below, to find that somebody else had just answered it. However, upon reading the response of the guy who had beat me to answering the question, I concluded that asker probably needed a little bit more help than an answer along the lines of "I'm clueless" would provide.

Apparently, I was wrong. Despite the fact that my answer showed the mathematical working of the problem that she posed, the asker decided to choose the "I'm clueless" response as the best answer. Hence my question...
You've got to be kidding me, right?
Well, I can only choose one best answer, but I would like to thank everyone who did more than just answer my question. The link above no longer works because reports of abuse have caused the question to be removed.

There are many idiots on here. My guess is that it's someone they knew - and I would rate this as abuse!
I am becoming more disillusioned with Answers. When I offer amusing answers I'm reported, but when I offer serious answers I find - as you do - that so many people posting answers don't care about reading any answers they get, and often just play stupid games.
This is abuse, and I'm going to report it right now - giving the reason I mentioned - selecting the wrong answer, probably for POINT-GAMING.
I once played Answers as a fairly serious game - I would take care to check my answers, and if nobody selected them I would vote for them - I didn't manage to get 86% as you have, and I am sure that it would be higher if it weren't for idiots like that.
If you could see it coming (sometimes you can) then it's better to delete your answers. As it stands, sometimes you wonder if you should post answers. As a Mathematician, I am sure that you'll agree that 86% isn't too impressive - when I studied electronics, I never scored less than 95%.
I expect you to follow me :P See you later ;)

This happens from time to time, as the author of the question gets the initial selection of the best answer in their eyes, and sometimes users can be 'robbed' of rightful best answers.
Sadly there is v. little that can be done to decrease such occurrences, however always ensure to report content that fails to answer the question (i.e chatting or ranting) and remember, Yahoo! Answers is about helping others to the best of your knowledge, and not the material rewards of points.
All the best

Similar thing happened to me, I asked a question, got a load of answers, though OK then did a bit more research and found no one had given me the right answer so I went back to see if I could choose a best answer but somehow someone had voted the best answer as one that didn't even answer my question, then went on to call me selfish and cruel!!
