For FORMER Liberals: What first set you free of your liberalism?
I was a staunch liberal until after Reagan's first election. When I stopped to listen to him, I saw that he truly loved this country and wanted what is best for it. Then, I watched as his policies gave our nation the chances to have exactly that.
That's why, when people ask me about such things, I refer to myself as a "recovering liberal."
When was your epiphany?

I just remember as a teenager the overall morale of the country under Jimmy Carter. He acted so helpless as the leader of the free world to fix problems. Ithe Iranian hostage situation really made America angry and ashamed. When Reagan took office, the world knew a real man took office and his interests were to put America first. People knew that he truly believed in America.
Today, the most important issue to me, is if I truly believe if a Presidential candidate loves this country and wants to put it before himself and the rest of the world. John McCain has already proved that to me. Barack Obama seems a little too interested in whats going on in Africa than what's going on here in the US. And with some of the comments by people that are close to him like his wife and pastor about their lack of belief in America, I wouldn't vote for him.Before the US taxpayer has to solve world poverty, we better get our own house in order.

Reagan and Bush were two very corrupt politicians, and their legacy continues today. Look around you, and see what you have helped to bring about.
