Great-crested Grebe in Indiana?

My husband saw what he called a Great-crested Grebe on the lake at our apartment complex yesterday and I am wondering how common they are to Indiana. He has seen them in Scotland where he is from, but this is a first for our area. Anyone have any information on where they are from? I've already looked them up on Wiki, and am finding Australia, New Zealand, Europe...nothing about the United States.

I live in Indiana and have never seen a great-crested Grebe around here, but there are several other types of Grebes in Indiana, perhaps he saw one that resembled a great-crested?

You'll find the types of Grebes found in Indiana listed here, scroll down just a bit, then google the names and see if he recognizes any of them.
