We have a fancy tail goldfish that we've had for about 6 or 7 months, maybe longer as we don't really keep track. He is larger then a golf ball, in perfect health & everything else seems fine. But...he has this thing about swimming around upside down for a few seconds, floating to the top and just staying there. He has been doing this for over a week now, and there are times when we think he is dead. Then we'll go up to the tank and he'll flip over, swim around normal & then minutes later is playing dead again.

Anyone know why he is doing this??

I've posted on different goldfish site forums, but no one has replied. We just want to make sure he isn't suffering even if he is just a fish...we do care.

We have a 15 gal tank with 2 Oto catfish, 1 comet & 1 common goldfish (or at least that is what we think the goldfish are by the shape of their tail fins). The comet is about 2 inches & the common is about 4 inches in length. We know we have "room" for at least 2 other small fish (according to a site we read it is 1 gallon for each inch of fish). I've looked online but can't find an easy to understand list that doesn't get into details. Most lists talk about fish ponds & not tanks.

Husband's employer is collecting toys kids at a local children's hospital and hubby got the 2 choices above. Now I am drawing a blank at what to get these children. Each has a $20 limit, but we can purchase as many gifts for each, as long as we don't go over the $20 limit.

I'm thinking these two are probably in grades 1 or 2 (girl) and 6 or 7 (boy).

I've thought about a doll, play jewelry so far for the girl, but have NO clue what to buy for a 12 yr old boy.

Remember these kids are IN the hospital, so nothing that requires them to go outside, and they don't have a lot of room to play.

Nitrite levels are nonexistent, Nitrate levels are high. 15 gallon tank, 2 gold fish & 2 "oto" sucker mouth catfish algae eaters, bio wheel filtration, over filtered. Using Aqua plus water treatment due to hard water in apartment (water is filtered through Brita filter first).

Water test stated ph was low (we know we can buy something called ph up to fix this), and Nitrate levels were high.

How do we get the Nitrate levels lower without bringing everything else up/down?

My husband saw what he called a Great-crested Grebe on the lake at our apartment complex yesterday and I am wondering how common they are to Indiana. He has seen them in Scotland where he is from, but this is a first for our area. Anyone have any information on where they are from? I've already looked them up on Wiki, and am finding Australia, New Zealand, Europe...nothing about the United States.

We have a medium collection of mix CDs for road trips, but we need something new. Road trip is around 3 hrs, and we like 60's 70's, some 80's & 90's. NO rap/hiphop/r&b/country please. We're leaving in 2 weeks so have plenty of time to download.

We have a 6 gallon tank, with 3 very healthy gold fish. We clean like we are suppose to, feed as we are suppose to, use tap water that is filtered by us, plus add Aqua Plus water treatment liquid according to the directions. Roosevelt is the "typical" orange color, Churchill is black & orange, and Hilter was black (on his upper lip hince his name) orange & white. We've had them for several months, and have had no health problems with any of them. Over the past 2 weeks Hitler went from the tri-color fish to a pure white...except for a very light orange tint to part of his tail. We asked the people at the store we got them from, and they said we are doing everything right, but should try feeding them "color enhancing" food. We have only noticed that the white is now alot "brighter". Has anyone ever had this happen to their goldfish or do we have a very special boy??

Looking for information on what is the best enclosure that is large enough for 2 dogs that will NOT be living in it. We have a medium breed dog, and my sister has a large breed dog. I am looking for something that can accommodate BOTH dogs at the same time when we are visiting our parents, so if we are all outside the dogs can be also without being on leashes, or being tied up. Parents live in the country and there are several wild animals around (deer/rabbit/squirrel), so we are more worried about dogs getting out then animals getting in. Want something that is easy to set up, temporary and will store away easily. Prefer to be able to go and buy it then to have it shipped so Petco/PetSmart items are great. Do not want to spend a fortune on enclosure as it will not be used everyday of the year, just a couple days during visits.

I play at least once a day, sometimes more, during the week.

We live in a south facing apartment that is more shade then sun. Some sites say we are zone 5, some say zone 6. We have a strawberry pot http://www.thepotplace.co.uk/images/strawberry_pot... that was purchased for hens & chickens, but I am not going to plant them in the pot.

Does anyone have any ideas besides herbs & strawberries that we can plant in the pot? We are in central Indiana.

I was told that there use to be a zoo, possibly very small, located around Ben Davis HS. Person who ran it still has some of the monkeys and chimps but does not live in the area. This is NOT the Indianapolis Zoo on Washington St.

I often visit the Aberdeen website and view the 3 webcams that show 3 different locations of the city. I lived there for 14 months and today I noticed a blue light in the lower right hand corner of the Castle Gate camera shot. My husband and I don't remember seeing it when we were living there.

Meijer in Avon has stopped offering alot of British food items in their international section and they informed us they won't carry certain products because the product isn't selling. Anyone know of another location in Indianapolis or surrounding areas??
