Job interview question?
I have an interview on Monday for a job in a customer service call center. The guy I spoke to for my phone interview said that they would be looking for someone who was a good problem solver and that they would want me to give an example of a customer problem and how I helped solve it. I have several years experience so I know a lot of examples but I'm not sure which one would be the best to give them. Out of all the possible types pf customer service problems out there, what do you think would be the best example to give to an interviewer if you really want to show off your problem solving skills?

I would definitely pick one where the customer was upset about something, or some mistake had been made that you needed to sort out. That way you can give a detailed account of how you know how to handle a stressful situation and how you can deal with customers who are upset. It also will show off that you can think on your feet and turn a negative situation into a positive one. Maybe you can even play it up so that it sounds like the customer was close to never using your company's services again, but you made them so happy that they changed their mind. Service Recovery is always a hot topic, so try to make it sound like that is what you did (and maybe you really did, I don't know! :) Good luck!!

always give examples of irate customers. This shows you are able to give correct knowledge and handle a sticky situation. A lot of people as you know get a little crazy over the phone and they know that. They want to hire someone that can be knowledgeable and not crack under pressure.. good luck.

I would pick the one that you feel mostly accomplished.
It was an intense situation. How did you manage to resolved it with a positive ending.
I just had an interview today myself. All the typical questions you suspect they would ask. They didn't even ask me anything about myself or my employment background.
Anyways... That's shows you practicing all week really didn't pay off. Good Luck. It's a tough market out there.

Well just tell them the one that made one of your toughest customers most happy or completely fixed there issue. Those are always good. Basically the toughest situation and how you solved it or worked with a team to fix it, how you took it head on, you know whatever sounds good....good luck.
