Get a whole chicken and roast it. Get a bag of rice. Carrots. An Onion. Can spaghetti sauce. Pound hamburger. Pasta, noodles. Loaf bread. You can have chicken sandwiches; chicken soup. Hamburger pattie, rest hamburger in pasta sauce. Leftover rice in chicken soup. $30 will go a long way - trust me on this one!

The secret is cooking from scratch, and using simple ingredients that lend themselves to a variety of meals. How about making a simple but hearty soup? You can also take some of the soup - add some rice and reheat until the rice is fluffy and create a kind of risotto. Pasta sauces are easy to make, you add pretty much anything to those - and you can get large bags of pasta cheaply at the market. To preserve bread, keep the loaf in the freezer and only take out what you need, you'll have fresh bread all week like this. I found you can make a sandwich in the morning with frozen bread and it thaws by lunch time. Try some of these sites for ideas.

I always buy the manager's special on chicken and from there you can make a good chicken soup, with the chicken leftovers you can shred it and make a chicken salad.
Buy a big bag of potatoes and boil like 4, this way you can slice one and make it with eggs.
Pasta is always a great option as everybody says, frozen vegetables help a lot too.
There are so many great deals you can get for only 30. Good luck!

Make a pan of chili or homemade soup. Dried beans are good for you and also they are cheap. Spaghetti can be made fairly cheap by buying the hamburger that is on sale that week or the ground turkey could be used also. Maybe could make a pan of goulash. There are tons of ideas. Sorry I can not help more. Have no idea as to your likes and dislikes or would add more ideas.
