To evolve means to develop and change. Evolution in biology is a theory first made popular by Charles Darwin in his book _The Origin of the Species_ (1859). It suggested that humanity was not created all at once from God, as the book of Genesis suggests, but came about through a series of developments and changes in biology. Darwin's explorations in South America and his studies of plants and animals suggested the theory to him, although other biologists at the time also were thinking in similar ways.
As such it was a revolutionary theory for its time because it was another blow against God as the center and controller of human life. In some backward parts of America, it is still controversial; most every educated person has long found Darwin persuasive, however. There may be ways to reconcile the theory with traditional Christian religion, or there may not be.

The guy that answered that question was biased and some what wrong. Evolution is a slippery term and does not have one meaning when you are using it in science.
The definition for this word is very complex and sometimes can be misinformed to the general public. Technically and biologically speaking the accurate definition for the word goes further than your standard meaning of alteration in species overtime; actually evolution has six different terms and meanings. Briefly these six different terms of evolution are:
Cosmic evolution – The origin of time space and matter, some scientist do argue this has nothing to do with biology but physics.
Stellar Evolution – The development of complex stars from the chaotic first elements.(Charles Darwin theory of evolution)
Chemical Evolution – The development of all the periodic chemical elements from the original two produced from the big bang.
Planetary Evolution - The development of planetary systems from swirling elements.
Organic Evolution – The development of organic matter from inorganic matter like rock or water.
Macro-Evolution – The transformation of one kind of species to a completely different one, possibly the most controversial.
Micro-Evolution. The development of variations within the same kind of life. This theory is considered to be observed, documented and true that the other 6 are merely assumed.
here is how you should structure your essay
The first part of the report will summarise the arguments of evolution and their theory on the origins of life on earth. This will contain definitions of evolution, theory, fact and their use scientifically, also evidence gathered on the subject of evolution and the weakness and strength of evolution in general.
The final section of my study I will give a critical evaluation of the evidence presented on both sides, the arguments for and against and where possible I will give an explanation on my own choice of conclusion. NOW THIS IS A BALANCED ANSWER FROM AN EDUCATED PERSON..HOPE THIS HELPS

I don't believe in evolution! But if that is what your teacher insist that you write about tell how he evolved from a monkey and not from Adam and Eve like you did!
