Why is it that anyone not voting for Obama is racist?

I'm so sick of hearing all of this racist talk. I would hope that people are voting for who they think would be a better president and not just because of their race or to make history!

Update:

I'm not saying McCain supporters are racist..I am a McCain supporter who is sick of being called racist by Obama supporters.

Update 2:

Vote for the underdog on American Idol..not for the President of the United States!

That is just political hype...and to be ignored. The idea that one person of a certain race is exactly the same as every other person of that same race is just ridiculous. Obama has very questionable friends, in a number of places and throughout a number of years.

I want to know the values of the person I vote for...not just pick him because of his race. To me, the race is not important at all....his character, however...his experience...and his judgements made in his past...do!

I'm sorry to hear that Honestly I can't defend either idea on the race thing because unfortunately racism still exist whether you decide to acknowledge it yourself or not if you are not a racist than you should not take offense to some comments that are not directed at you. And there are some people who still have negative opinion about blacks and there are those who said they can't bring themselves to vote for Obama because he is black (which I find that ignorant) people should be voting on the issues and on the needs of the many and not the few. If you are not a racist do not let the comments bother you because they don't apply to you they apply to those who are allow someones race to keep they from receiving the message. I also would like to add that I feel people who think that way are cowards and there a disgrace to our country, see as how we are a country filled with diversity. Its time to grow up and stop being so petty, I can't help I was born black, no differently than McCain or Bush can help in that they were born white. Erase the color line and see the merit of the person within.

A poll was taken and 50% of the people said they are racist.

THose not voting Obama , with all that Bush has done and McCain will be worse, it is hard to imagine what the reason for more bad choice of McCain would be. McCain has voted 95 % w/Bush, and if you dont know all of what he has done go to the book store and look in the pollitics section and start having a look at the corruption, MCCain talks a good game, but when you know the truth it is not pretty. Look at the bailout being needed. There have been down right nasty things said, review, YA Q&A and it is racist as hell

    Thats a huge overstatement.

I have never seen on the media or in person anyone accused of being a racist for opposing Barack Obama. If someone can give me a reason besides "he's black" I don't consider them racist.

However I have met a few racist opposers I have met someone who said "I don't want a black man for president" and the feeling that "Obama will put blacks ahead of whites" can also be considered a racist statement as well.

You may vote for who you choose. But be mindful of the fact many of the questions and answers on here about Obama are thinly disguised racism. I am not calling you a racist for wanting four more years of war and the borrow/spend expansion of government. That is your choice.

But do not say there are not racists on here attacking Obama. They are here as a swarm. I call them the Desperation Brigades. Like the fool above me who calls Obama a socialist (Obama is not), thereby showing he's in the majority of Americans who are ignorant of the definition of socialism. But then again, when the party tells you what to say and think, that is to be expected.

Talk about racist look at the polls from the Primary Democratic election among black voters. You remember the OJ Simpson murder trial. It's that all over again. Black people stick together and when they try to get over and lose, they decide to ***** and complain, and if that doesn't work, rob and kill and sell drugs.

I know that sounds racist, but I just can't trust an entire group of people that speaks english phonetically. I know you're thinking "phonics is the way you learn to read and write", which is true. But once you've learned the written language there is no longer a need to sound things out. When talking about topics like politics I would hope that people are well beyond phonetics considering thier education or lack thereof.

Have you noticed that the only people who are bring up the race issue are the democrats? They have to have an excuse as to why Obama isn't elected president when he loses.

Just tell them u don't want to vote for a person with a socialist agenda, half the idiots i know, don't know jack about obama. I get crap from my black friends and family members when i say i'm not voting for him... i'm mixed black an white and i do not support him. (mccain either). So just cite what u don't like about him basically, hopefully it's not his skin color.

i agree with you, it's not a race issue whatsoever but, many people will make it a issue and i think that those people are the reason race will always be an issue. how can we stop racism when everyone still sees it as a problem? it's just sad.
