The only way someone will give up smoking is if they actually want to. Maybe if she wants a new life in Spain with you, she will be prepared to give up the evil weed. I do understand how you feel about smoking, the smell clings to everything and for a non smoker its a real put off. Maybe you should have a long talk together to discuss your relationship together and to see where both of you think the relationship is going. After all, if it is true love you will both find a compromise. Good luck.

I used to smoke quite heavily during my teen years, but when I met my fiance (then boyfriend) I did stop.

Not only for him, but for myself too.

Have you spoke to her about her smoking?

A lot of smokers do actually want to quit, but it is so hard, though not impossible to stop. You could maybe encourage her, help her set out a "smoking time plan".

If for example she smokes 20 a day, limit it to 15.

However, you cannot help her if she doesn't want to stop.

I know several smokers who have had the opportunity to stop smoking using various resources, and they have simply turned down the offers.

No I wouldn't, only would if I was ready. The fact is that any potential boyfriend that wanted me to quit smoking, would just probably hate me once I did, the cigarettes help keep me calm, without them, I would explode over every little thing. I do it to maintain my sanity.

It is not that easy my friend, if it were nobody would smoke as I've never met a smoker who deep down didn't really want to stop.

It is really up to her...there is a book that was fantastic and easy, took no willpower and was instant...Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking. Click here to view and even read a chapter...http://www.amazon.co.uk/Allen-Carrs-Easy-Stop-Smok...

Good luck to both of you!

    1. I wouldn't meet love interest on the internet.

    2. If someone wanted to hook up with me, they take me as is. That includes my smoking. You don't like what see, turn the other way.

I can and I did. If she really wants to she probably can. If not, then it'll be difficult. It requires a lot of commitment.
