There are two ways to convert a person. The first is to show how wrong they are. The second is to show how right you are.
If some one wants to challenge points of doctrine and belittle and my core beliefs, they simply won't get very far. It would be better to simply share with others the things you like about your church. I really like my church because, it is not run by professional clergy. I feel good about going to church on Sunday because I have a calling. Most of all, my church helps me feel the Savior's love.
I would be happy to hear what makes you love your church. If I could respect and admire it, I might be curious about it. That might lead me in toward it.

If this Mormon you wish to convert is your friend, I suggest you don't try it. If s/he tries to convert you, don't try to counter-convert. Just be a friend.
If you and your friend frequently have religious discussions, perhaps you could channel that interest into researching the claims of Mormonism/Catholicism/Christianity.
I'm a Mormon, and I have yet to find a satisfactory answer to this one: Joseph Smith translated Egyptian papyri that he claimed were "[t]he writings of Abraham while he was in Egypt, called the Book of Abraham, written by his own hand, upon papyrus." Both Mormon and non-Mormon Egyptologists have since demonstrated that the papyri were nothing more than standard funerary texts, dating to around the first century B.C. (roughly 2000 years after Abraham lived). Yet the Book of Abraham remains in the Mormon canon.
Admittedly, because I wasn't raised Catholic or Evangelical, I don't have a good starting point for researching their claims. You can research the true origins of the Bible, for example. Who wrote the books of the Bible? The answers are sometimes startling. I was surprised to learn that none of the books in the New Testament were written by contemporaries of Jesus.
If you're really daring, you can take on some of the more fundamental claims of religions in general. Take for instance the following logical exercise regarding the argument from evil, (retrieved from http://www.ebonmusings.org/atheism/allpossibleworl... ) :
Assumption (1): God exists.
Assumption (1a): God is all-knowing.
Assumption (1b): God is all-powerful.
Assumption (1c): God is perfectly loving.
Assumption (1d): Any being that did not possess all three of the above properties would not be God.
Premise (2): Evil exists.
Premise (3): An all-knowing being would be aware of the existence of evil.
Premise (4): An all-powerful being would be able to eliminate evil.
Premise (5): A perfectly loving being would desire to eliminate evil.
Conclusion (6): Evil does not exist. (from (1),(3),(4),(5))
Contradiction: But evil does exist. (from (2))
Conclusion (7): There is no being that is all-knowing, all-powerful, and perfectly loving. (from (2),(3),(4),(5))
Conclusion (8): God does not exist. (from (7),(1d))
I have yet to encounter a religion can answer the above logical exercise without denying at least one of its premises.
Ultimately, people choose to stay in a religion because of how it makes them feel. You may be able to substitute a Mormon "warm fuzzy" feeling with a Catholic one, or a even an Evangelical one. But if you substitute those nice feelings for reasoned and logical answers, you may find (as I have) that true 'religion' for logic is no religion at all.

That is like when my ex tried to convert me to mormon. It isn't going to happen. If they don't want it, then leave them be. They chose their path. How would you feel if someone kept trying to push you into becoming a mormon or something else? You would HATE it and fight every step of the way.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormonism) is a beautiful Christian religion. Because Mormons believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ and consider Him to be the way to salvation, they are clearly a Christian denomination. It is true that they are not an orthodox denomination (they are neither Protestant, Catholic, nor Eastern Orthodox), because they don't accept the post-New Testament creeds, but their Christ-centered theology clearly qualifies them for the Christian label.
Most objective scholars agree that Mormons are Christian. Consider this quote from an academic book entitled “Anthology of World Scriptures” by Robert E. Van Voorst.
“…the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints…see themselves as Christian, and most experts in comparative religions would view this labeling as basically correct. That they…accept the Christian Bible as their first cannon is a good indicator of this. Moreover, “outsiders” to [Christianity], such as Buddhists, would almost certainly recognize them as belonging to the stream of Christian tradition.”
Likewise, a recent poll showed that the majority of Americans believe that Mormons are Christians.
You should be extremely careful when trying to learn about Mormons from others. There are many who hate the Mormons and spread lies, distortions, and conspiracy theories about them. Others think they understand Mormon doctrine because of "what they've heard," but are actually misinformed.

i'm hoping to offer greater suggestions and greater constructive factors than assuming that youtube and southpark are valid documentary shops. As a Mormon i think of it would be staggering so which you would be able to connect, if it rather is for the surprising motives. the religion isn't relating to the guidelines, and admittedly we don't spend a lot time communicate what we will not do, all of us comprehend it and that's minor - it rather is approximately what we do and say and how we act. in actuality the religion is approximately following the occasion of Jesus Christ as ultimate you could; helping individuals, lifting up people who choose lifted up, in all issues attempting our ultimate to symbolize our Savior. as quickly as you recognize that something is self-explanatory. ultimate element so which you would be able to do is start up analyzing the e book of Mormon, conversing with missionaries and individuals, and hear convention talks. there are a number of good issues approximately my faith, yet what concerns is the internal maximum relationship which you will income with Jesus Christ. i like the verse interior the e book of Mormon (and comparable interior the bible) asserting "that as quickly as they shall see Him they shall see Him for who he's, because of the fact they are going to be like Him". it rather is the purpose, to grow to be like Christ. sturdy luck and that i might like to pay attention from you in case you have the different questions.

No conversion required for Christianity....they already are Christians.
As for catholicism, that's going to be an uphill battle. Here are a few things that you'll have to explain to them:
-The inquisition and the crusades
-How the Popes could have been God's anointed and have been so evil and corrupt
-The worshiping of "graven images"
-Praying to anyone other than God
-Worshiping saints
-Baptizing babies (and the belief that unbaptized infants burn in hell eternally).
-Similarly, the belief that people who were born on earth will burn in hell for eternity because they happened to be born in China in the 1200's and had never heard of Jesus Christ.
-Your priests and their wandering hands'.
-You'd have to explain what you have to offer them (Afterall, they already believe in Jesus Christ and the Bible).
-The trinity. It's an un-biblical doctrine that only makes your head spin.
-the sin of using birth control
-the belief that sex is a sin....even within marriage.
-selling of indulgences
-paid clergy
I think you've got an uphill battle to convert a Mormon to Catholicism.

Just explain to them that while their myths are patently ridiculous, yours are perfectly rational. I don't see the problem.
