Hon, you are not going to be able to do your homework on Yahoo answers. Do the research yourself so you don't fall victim to people screwing with you.

Constitutional amendments are changes to original wording of the document. When something is deemed necessary to change, an amendment must be passed and placed in order to make the change binding. Take Prohibition for example. It was believed that alcohol consumption was the root cause of poverty and crime in America, therefore an amendment (the 18th) was put in place to change the Constitution's wording making alcohol sale and consumption illegal. Later, after crime skyrocketed and poverty remained, the 21st Amendment was made to repeal the 18th, thereby reverting the sale and consumption of alcohol back to being legal.
