Felony Probation i have a question...?

I have a court date thursday. After the court date my lawyer told me that I have to go and sign up for probation that same day. My question is when you go to sign up for probation, do they require a drug test on that day or the first appointment? Please only people that have had to be put on probation that requires drug testing answer thanks

The reason your lawyer told you that you must go to probation Thursday is because Thursday is the day the judge will sentence you. Your lawyer told you that, because he's nearly certain you won't go to jail that day. But you WILL be sentenced to probation, and it will start on Thursday.

The answer to your question about drug-testing is YES. When a person is put on probation, the probation department can order you to submit to a drug test at any time. And very often, they order you to "drop" on the first day of probation, because they want to catch you off guard. Be ready! I've been representing people in drug cases for a long, long time. Nothing will irritate the judge more than when he hears that on the very day you had to face the music, you couldn't even show up with a drug-free system. He may send you to jail, if he's angered by your disregard of authority.

In all cases you will be tested as you have been convicted and given probation you are not to break the law and cannot use drugs-unless prescribed by a doctor.

My daughter just got off probation. But during it, any time she got a new probation officer, they would pull a UA. And on the first day or first appt. they will take one, because you are a newbie and they want to make sure that you know they have your life in their hands!
