Do Congressmen ever respond to messages sent to them from their websites?
I'm trying to contact Texas Congressman Ron Paul from http://www.house.gov/paul/contact.shtml, but I want to know if there is any chance of him actually responding to my question about his opinion on NAFTA. If anybody has ever been through this before, please help me out. Thanks in advance.

I have gotten response from my senator.
Dr Paul though has been working hard lately building opposition to the bail out, making rounds on the new networks and unlike most congressmen, taking his job in congress seriously.
Responses from him in the past have been slow, because it is campaign season. Most of his policies can be found on his websites as well as on the Campaign for Liberty sites.
Just a note, phone calls work better than emails & letters. But election time throws kink into all of that.

Yes, but if you aren't in their district, less often because they have to spend their district's funds. However, his opinion on NAFTA is that it is a violation of US sovereignity and managed trade that shuts out individual rights and opportunity. Had he been elected President he would veto NAFTA when it came up for reauthorization, not play games 'renegotiating' it.

Usually you'll get a form letter from an automation or a secretary, but I doubt that they themselves even see your letter. I wrote a congressperson once and the letter I got back in return had absolutely nothing to do with the issue I mentioned.

I receive answers but I am certain they come from some subordinate. However, I feel the Congressman is approving of the answers given.

They normally do answer, but most of the time it's a generic letter that is sent to everyone that contacts them.

I emailed six members of Congress from their websites. Only one (John Cornyn) actually responded.

Do Congressmen respond to anything we ask them? They could care less what we have to say.

Most are first seen by office workers. Sometimes the actual person gets it.

Someone from his staff will probably contact you.
I got a response from Ted Kennedy once, or someone saying it was him.
