Tooth extraction - opened sinus cavity - help?
I had a molar extracted today and the root was into my sinus cavity - so when they pulled it - it created a hole between my sinus & my mouth. The Dr. left it open - no packing, stitches etc... Now it is VERY difficult to swallow anything - and exhaling makes my cheeks puff out because of the very strange air flow / vacuum. I am getting fluid from my drink up in there & it BURNS! Doc said "give it a week",,, huh?? And let's talk about the PAIN!! Anyone been through this? If so - any home remedies to help? I just need to block that hole! Going back to the Doc isnt a great option as this little venture ended up costing me WAY more money than I have - so unless they do it for free - I am tapped :( Any suggestions??

Not to scare the #%$# out of you, but that can be very dangerous. You need to see a doctor immediately. I won't go into details but it needs to taken care of so food and such doesn't get into your sinus cavity and elsewhere.

Yes, I am going through this now. Please don t mention PAIN!!!!!!! I have had water go into my ear and did I mention PAIN!!!!! I do not have stitches but had a temporary bridge that was aggravating me even more. The whole sinus cavity was sore especially around my ear and temple. Hopefully this will heal faster, today is 12/11 and I had the tooth pulled on 11/20...go figure. Can t heal fast enough in my book.

It has been a couple of years since the extraction and I could rinse my sinus with salt water. It was closed by surgery and it was good. Suddenly a year later I have this awful taste in my mouth and smell in nose. How dangerous is it to have this possible small hole now. I haven t the flow of liquid had before.

I had the same thing happen today, but I have stitches. Every time I swallow, I feel it between the top of my nose and right eye. No cheeks puffing out when I exhale, though. I'm on antibiotics and pain meds and hope it will heal with time.
