favorite dairy goat-what's yours?
my daughter is interested in getting dairy goats -- anyone have a particular breed they think is best adn why

this is really a matter of opinion. If you want high milk production with low butterfat go with saanen, or alpine, or toggenburg.
Personally i do not like any of those.. i like nubians and lamanchas
lamanchas are the most laid back and most affectionate.
nubians are hams. and not the brightest.
Nubians have very long ears. it really comes down to what you want in a dairy goat. high butterfat with decent milk i would say nubian, or lamancha.
Now if the amount of milk doesn't matter but you want high butterfat. nigerian dwarf goats are a true mini dairy goat. i have nigerians as well and nubians and lamanchas.

I personally like the nubians because of their markings but a breeder near me has saanens and they have got very good temperments
