Sounds like a reaction to something, probably an allergen/digestive irritant such as teething. It could also be a virus.

Green, mucousy stool
This can be a result of a virus. Often the only sign we see of a virus is in the green stool. This is evidence of malabsorption in the intestines. Watch for how many days and with what consistency it is occurring. With a virus, it will run its course over a few days and begin to improve.
Another cause of malabsorption in the intestines can be teething. The profuse saliva of a teething baby can cause irritation in the intestines interfering with proper absorption. When babies teethe, we can see lots of drooling. Large quantities of saliva is swallowed which can irritate the intestines causing runny, acidic stools. This can also cause a rash in the diaper area.

A baby who has diarrhea would have stools that are very frequent, usually green and full of mucus (and/or specks of blood), and almost always foul smelling.

Functional Lactase Deficiency describes a thriving breastfed baby who has multiple loose watery stools. The baby may be irritable and may pass flatus frequently. Low fat feeds result in rapid gastric emptying leading to large quantities of lactose being presented for digestion. Thus the ability of lactase to digest the lactose may be overwhelmed. The amount of fat being consumed at any feed should therefore be maximised to delay gastric emptying. This can best be achieved by optimising hind milk intake by:
http://www.kellymom.com/babyconcerns/lactose-intol...
"Anything that damages the gut lining, even subtly, can cause secondary lactose intolerance. The enzyme lactase is produced in the very tips of folds of the intestine, and anything that causes damage to the gut may wipe off these tips and reduce the enzyme production.
"...Secondary lactose intolerance is a temporary state as long as the gut damage can heal. When the cause of the damage to the gut is removed, for example the food to which a baby is allergic is taken out of the diet, the gut will heal even if the baby is still fed breastmilk."
Although cow's milk protein sensitivity and lactose intolerance are not the same thing, they can sometimes occur at the same time, since food allergy can cause secondary lactose intolerance.

I work in a hospital and see this often. It sounds like a yeast infection, but the mucus part bothers me. There are two times when I see mucus in stool, MRSA and CDIF. MRSA is an infection that a person gets and must be treated with antibiotics. CDIF is more a diarrhea. The mucus is an infection. That is worst case scenario, but from a healthcare point of view, its something I would look into.

sounds like a yeast infection more common in girls than boys, and they give you a cream to treat it. it will take about 3-4 days to clear up but advise to do the full treatment of 7 days and save the left over cream as it will more than likely happen again, it basically looks like a really nasty diaper rash that will not go away

If you baby is a girl, I would guess a yeast infection. Its hard to determine without knowing the sex of child.

Sounds like he may be allergic to a food . Do you give him whole mild maybe he is lactose intolerant. It is something that is not agreeing with his body.

Sounds like there was a new introduction to a food and he/she may not agree with it.
