WIRING AN OUTDOOR FOUNTAIN?
I recently bought and installed a small outdoor fountain and now I need to run electricity for the pump. I was told 14-3 wire would do the job as long as it runs through conduit. Is this wire o.k. to use inside conduit running underground since it says on the box "for indoor use"? Thanks for your help.

You do not have to use conduit for the entire length. If your pump is 110v and is under 15amps then you can use 14-2 UF cable, this is a direct burial cable. you have to bury it no less then 18 inches underground. you must install either a GFI receptacle or a GFI breaker when installing the receptacle you also have to use a weather proof box and a in-use cover. when running the wire into the box it has to be in a conduit. also do not install 14ga wire on a breaker larger than 15amps

No, You must use OUTDOOR conduit which is made of plastic, go to your local hardware store and explain your problem and I am sure they will get you the required material.

Unless you are a licensed electrician, you should probably call one and get him/her to install the wiring! If you wired it incorrectly and some one was injured you could be liable for damages. If your wiring caused a fire, your insurance may not be any good!
