Lesson plan for introducing coins?

I'm looking to do a lesson plan on introducing 2nd grade students to coins/value in the classroom for the first time. I have a great introductory poem, but not sure what to do for an initial activity, assuming this is the first time the kids have really handled coins. Any help would be great. Thanks!

    These kids should have had coins in kindergarten, at least first grade, an introductory plan will be way below their level. I would ask the teacher what they are working on to be sure, but I think they are probably working on exchanging money and making change.
