  • Gay Clubs in Providence, RI?

What are some good ones? My friend and I (both married 30-somethings) are headed out for a much needed Moms' night away next month. We want to drink and dance and prefer gay clubs where we can get drunk off of test tube shots and dance the night away with sweaty men who are not interested in having sex with us. Where should we go?

  • What to cook for someone whose dad just died?

My coworkers father passed away the other day. I'd like to bring her some food, but plan on dropping it at the door so I don't bother anyone. I'm not sure if they'll be home anyway. It's supposed to be 97 degrees here for the next few days- what can I make that won't spoil? Maybe banana bread or a muffin basket?

  • Scrapbooking old photos?

I'm interested in making a scrapbook page with a photo of my husband and one of me as children. These are old photos from the late 70's/early 80's--colors back then in photos were horrendous! Just wondering if anyone has any ideas/could point me to some layouts that use older photos like this.

  • Pregnancy after 2 miscarriages?

I have had 2 miscarriages, 1 of which was this year. The doctor's don't test to find out why until after you've had 3. I am pregnant again now (just 4 weeks) and am terrified of another miscarriage! I've asked my doctor to do more frequent blood testing to monitor hormone levels, as I've heard of a lot of women not knowing that they were low on Progesterone and would miscarry, but then would go on to have healthy pregnancies once that was found out and remedied. My question is, is there anything else I should ask my doctor about as far as tests go? Thank you!

  • Electric guitar brands?

I'm saving up for an electric guitar. I currently have an acoustic, so I know next to nothing about electrics. What is a somewhat inexpensive, but respectable guitar to buy? I don't need anything top of the line, but not a cheap joke either. Thanks.

  • earthquake proof building project for kids?

I am looking for a project to do with my middle school students where they build a structure that they think will withstand an earthquake. I can't find anything online, but I'm sure someone has put a project together like this before, so I don't want to re-invent the wheel. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Recommend materials? I was thinking cards, paper clips, popsicle sticks, tape...thanks!

  • going organic/less meat?

Hi there-- I have just recently made a commitment to buy organic whatever meat and dairy products that I can. I have also decided to self-impose a moratorium at least till the end of the year on red meat, pork, well- any mammals, I guess. I'll continue to eat chicken, turkey, and fish though. Problem is, my husband is a big meat eater--major! How do I sort of sneak this whole thing past him with minimal resistance? (Talking to him about health benefits and the like is futile).

Also, I have been on the Weight Watchers program for 2 months now. The program is changing in a few weeks and will take into account protein content when assigning "points" to foods, so basically I need to keep my protein intake high. Chicken and fish get boring and I'm not a fan of tofu. Any websites out there on how to get started with these changes? I really want this to work out for the long run. Thanks!

  • L.A.'s "Must see" on the rock scene?

I would like to plan a trip to the LA area to check out the music scene and visit some places like the Rainbow, Whiskey, etc.--places where some of my favorite bands got their start. Any must see spots along these lines that I shouldn't miss while in the area?

Also, I'd like to visit the Haight/Ashbury area in SF-- any Manson-esque things I should make sure to hit while there as well? Thanks!

  • guitar songs for beginners?

I start acoustic guitar lessons next week. What are some songs that are easy for a beginner? I'm into quite a bit of classic rock (anything Pink Floyd especially) and I also love the hair bands like Poison, Motley Crue, Cinderella, etc.

Also, what do you think the easiest Guns N' Roses songs would be?

    Thanks!

We will be visiting the Capitol the weekend after Thanksgiving this year. I was wondering if anyone knows if the White House will be decorated for Christmas by then?

Also, any insider tips on things (free or low cost) that we shouldn't miss while we are there for the weekend?

  • Mice in my house-who's responsible?

A mobile home across the street from my house was condemned by the Board of Health back in May. This past week they stripped off the siding and took out the windows. Today they demolished the trailer. Since they started ripping stuff down, I have had mice in my house! I called the BOH, they said that the 2 things were probably not related, since it is fall in New England and that's what happens.I have been here for 5 years and have never had mice. In any event, they told me to contact the building department. I left messages, but no one has returned my calls. Is there any way I can get the town or the mobile home owner to pay for an exterminator?

  • My cat pees on EVERTYTHING!!!?

Here's the story-- I have two 11 year old (fixed) female cats that I've had since they were kittens. One of them started peeing on out dirty laundry on the floor. We made sure the laundry was in a basket. She started peeing in the basket (sometimes pooping too). We got a tall hamper. She started peeing in there if the lid was off. She has peed on slippers, the shower mat, the bottom 2 inches of a fabric wall hanging that was hitting the floor, and now in my bathroom trash basket, which had a pair of shorts in it. Long story short, we figured out which of the 2 cats it was, took them both to the vet. Vet ruled out UTI/bladder infection, did an ultrasound to look for some sort of stones and there weren't any. We put a second litter box on the main floor of the house (ended up taking that away b/c she flipped it over every day-- and it didn't stop the inappropriate peeing anyway). The vet is convinced that it's behavior and not illness, but cannot recommend anything besides possibly Prozac (!) which he is not sure will help anyway. (And if you have a cat then you know that giving it a pill every day would be next to impossible). Nothing has changed as far as schedules are concerned--working longer hours, vacations away from home, etc. No new pets or kids in the house, etc. CAN ANYONE HELP???? Thanks!

  • eggs in swimming pool?

I have a question about something that looks like eggs attached to the walls of my inground swimming pool. (I cannot take a picture because they are underwater and disintegrate when touched). They are about the size of the tip of a pen and are red, attached to the side walls and in the crease where the side liner meets the bottom. There are several thousand, if not millions of them. We regularly rescue frogs from out of the pool, but they don't resemble any pictures of frog eggs that I've seen online. I'd love to know what the heck they are!

  • Lesson plan for introducing coins?

I'm looking to do a lesson plan on introducing 2nd grade students to coins/value in the classroom for the first time. I have a great introductory poem, but not sure what to do for an initial activity, assuming this is the first time the kids have really handled coins. Any help would be great. Thanks!
