going organic/less meat?

Hi there-- I have just recently made a commitment to buy organic whatever meat and dairy products that I can. I have also decided to self-impose a moratorium at least till the end of the year on red meat, pork, well- any mammals, I guess. I'll continue to eat chicken, turkey, and fish though. Problem is, my husband is a big meat eater--major! How do I sort of sneak this whole thing past him with minimal resistance? (Talking to him about health benefits and the like is futile).

Also, I have been on the Weight Watchers program for 2 months now. The program is changing in a few weeks and will take into account protein content when assigning "points" to foods, so basically I need to keep my protein intake high. Chicken and fish get boring and I'm not a fan of tofu. Any websites out there on how to get started with these changes? I really want this to work out for the long run. Thanks!

There is lots of protein in beans, nuts, seeds, rice, lentils, dairy, etc. There's no need to eat meat every day. In fact, most American eat way more protein than they need. Go vegetarian a few nights a week. There is a black bean chili on epicurious.com that is better than any meat chili I've ever had. Check out healthy recipes (WW has a ton), get a subscription to Cooking Light. I love turkey sausage and make a lot of delicious soups and stews with it.

I wouldn't push your husband into eating what he's not comfortable with. I would keep a supply of burgers, steaks, hotdogs, whatever, in the house and let him decide whether to join you or have something different for dinner. I bet he will realize that healthier food can be extremely tasty and you'll have a convert on your hands.

It's really all about your commitment to health and well being. It's tough if you are both not on the same page. Getting the support to transition to a healthier way of eating is the best way to go.

Once you balance your proteins, complex carbs and fat for your metabolic type your body will burn excess fat, you'll sleep better and have more energy than a 3 year old. You must also address getting the toxins out of your body through nutritional cleansing.

You can find out your metabolic type for free at several sites on the Internet. Or you can type in "easydietforlife free metabolic type test" without the quote marks to get to a good one.

Don't try to sneak anything past your husband. He's going to notice. Tell him you love him a lot and want to have him around for a lot of years to come and you want him to be healthy.

    Good luck,
