Do you think the middle name Sue sounds "hickish"?

That is what people keep telling me, but I think it's sweet. And it's a middle name anyway, so most people won't even know what her middle name is. It is in honor of my mother, Sue.

Update:

My mom's name is Susan, but I don't like the way it sounds in the middle. I think it's too heavy.

Update 2:

Do you like Elaina Sue?

I'd say it depends on the first name. I like it, and it's great that you're honouring your mother.

I'd say, and name ending in an 'ee' sound is out of the question, because it sounds 'hickish' (like Betty Sue, or Annie Sue).

But it works well with lots of names, especially longer ones (Evelyn Sue, Emmeline Sue).

    Good luck!

EDIT - Yeah! Elaina Sue is really pretty!

To me it is hickish, only b/c I knew a sue who was hickish, but you are honoring your mother & that has more meaning then what other people think of the name.

I think that if you give her the right first name, it won't sound hick-ish. Elaina is very nice. Just stay away from Bobby Sue and Peggy Sue and stuff like that lol. Plus, I think it is extra special because it is in honor of your mother. My middle name is in honor of my grandmother also and I love that it will always be part of me.

I think Sue is too hickish and unfinished. What about Susannah or something along those lines. Sue always makes me think or Betty Sue or Peggy Sue.

Most sues I know go by susie. it doesn't sound hickish but its not my favorite name. It works better as a middle name.

It's a little "hickish" but if it's a family name, go with it. I think its sweet too.

To the contrary, I think Sue is a beautiful name! Don't mind what other people say -- it's your right to name your daughter whatever you want!

I think Susan or Susannah sounds nicer (and I am guessing that your mother's given name was not just "Sue").

I don't see it as "hickish" unless it is paired with certain names. You could try Susan, Suzanne, Suzette, etc if you want.
