The only time you know who picked your answer as best is when the asker does it, otherwise it is totally anonymous.
There is a group who are going through the categories clearing up old unresolved questions, and many people use the voting limit each day to boost their points total. You may have been lucky and got the random vote.

If the 'best answers' were on older questions, you may have been the beneficiary of a Yahoo group called 'TieBusters', whose purpose is to clear up the unresolved backlog here by voting on 'tie-breaker' questions.
