Immigration adoption question, any advise?
This is the situation. My wife and I (U.S. Citizens) legally adopted my wife's 4 year old niece (she lives with us in the U.S.), who has a conditional green card. What must we do now to change her status, and name through Immigration? Isn't there also a process that children become citizens right away because of adoption?

Brian, I think that you need to consult a lawyer. I thought the same as you with regard to a legal adoption, but I wouldn't take the chance. If you cannot afford a lawyer, there are some that do pro bono work through community organizations. I wish you luck.
