Internet won't work on PC but works for laptop?

I have cable internet, the line runs through the modem and pc to the wireless router. Initially when I set it up, everything worked fine and I could use the wireless on my laptop or the internet on my PC. We got a new tv in July and since then the internet doesn't work on my pc, it works fine on my laptop. We just tried running the internet directly into the PC and shut down the laptap wifi, and it wouldn't work. Any suggestions?

Update:

We have called the cable company and they got the computer to work, but then the wifi didn't and I far prefer my laptop over my pc, but I use my pc for my husband's billing for his business and I need the email on that machine.

I use Windows XP home edition on the PC and I have Vista on the laptop.

Plug the cable modem directly into the PC. when it doesn't work call your cableco's tech support line (as you are not using a router, they can help you). You will face a long wait time and likely barely-competent support staff, but without knowing any specifics like computer type (vista/xp/mac/linux, network configuration, etc. it's hard to provide any real help).

If it does for some reason fix itself, call the router manufacturers tech support.

Try unplugging your new TV, if it fixes it you found the culprit.

learn your router lamps and make sure you have a broadband lamp gleaming. in spite of if it rather is a house Hub 2 there might desire to be 3 lamps gleaming however the broadband lamp exhibits that the router is connecting to the isp. in case you may get admission to the administration pages of the router, then do a production facility reset, and reboot. in case you nevertheless can't get admission to the internet, and the perfect lamps are lit, then try installation yet another browser, say opera, and take a verify out that. If that works then you certainly've some extraordinary settings in the browser that isn't connect. If it would not, then you certainly've some style of an infection that's combating connection. attempt to get a pal to acquire malwarebytes, and do a test with that. You of course wont be waiting to replace this technique in case you could not connect, even though it rather is going to nevertheless have extremely as much as date data. sturdy success
