Proper thank you for dinner?

My boss and his wife have invited my fiance and I out to dinner at a nice steakhouse. I am assuming that by inviting us, they will be picking up the tab.

I want to thank them for their hospitality and thought of bring along a bottle of expensive wine to the dinner. Is this a proper thing to do?

I do understand that people have different tastes in wine as well. I also wonder if it would be better to give them the bottle after dinner so they dont feel like they have to drink it that evening if it does not pair well with their respective meals.

Advice please?

Update:

Bringing a special nice wine to a restuarant is not trashy, though it sounds like you may be. Thats why restaurants have corkage fees as it is a common and accepted practice.

bringing wine to a restaurant is kind of trashy its like bringing your own candy to the movie theaters why dont you wait until after the dinner to give it to them or send them a gift basket.

Source(s): I take it you have been called trashy more than once in your life otherwise you would not have been bothered by my giving you advice. also how do you get im trashy? there is a reason your fiance has been nothing but your fiance for over a year and not your husband.

i'd write a nice note. you should getyourself some blank, personal maybe monogrammed note cards that you can use in situations such as this one.
