Are goldfish & corydoras compatible fish?
Can i keep a goldfish with a group of Corydoras? I don't know yet if they can live in the same type of water or if they are even compatible. I have a 30 gallon breeder tank, so space isn't too much of a problem.

It's an interesting question.
Peppered Cory are living wild in the canals of Germany and Holland. Keep your temp around 22C and that should keep them both happy.
My breeding female peppers are 3", the males about 1.75", they are armour plated and have locking fins. There's far bigger fish swimming around European canals and they survive there. Personally I don't think goldfish would see them as food.
Oxygen isn't a problem, they breathe air if they have to, but ammonia levels is a fair point that might stop you.
The truth is I don't know, but there is a possibility it might work with Peppers. Doubt any of the other species of Cory would survive though.

I presently have a single male comet goldfish living peacefully in a 30 gallon tank with a single black Cory cat. I've been considering getting a couple more cats because the Cory's thrive more in schools. I'm a new hobbyist actually and find my only tank issue is keeping it cloud free and clean. It's a lot of work. I've also got a ten gallon tank of guppies and a single tetra that survived my goldfish. My Goldy was won at a local fair, the Corydora catfish and guppies were given to me by a friend, and when I first got my tetra from my grandma there were three. My comet Goldy is now about 6-7 inch's now snout to fin end. You just have to watch things and actually pay attention to your fish and do your research. At first I couldn't even find my Cory because he's one of the less common, almost rare black Cory. He's so dark in comparison to others. But he and my Goldy do find together. Haven't had any problems at all. But my Goldy is big and I believe my Cory is full grown.

Nopenopenope.
Firstly, there is the temperature issue, although some species of cory will tolerate, and prefer, cooler temperatures.
Then there's the water quality issue. Corys will be on the bottom and very susceptable to ammonia issues caused by goldfish poop.
And lastly there's the Goldfish eating the Cory issue. Corys have very sharp fin spines designed to get caught in predators mouths. These spines excrete a toxin, this toxin can also be released if the fish is stressed. If the Goldfish accidentally hoovered a Cory, the Cory would get stuck and both fish would die.

No sorry, GoldFish is the one fish which no other domestic fish is compatible with really.
When comparing Corydoras to goldfish. Corydoras are tropical fish where Goldfish are cold water fish to place one in the others environment would be stressful to the fish

I have three corydoras living with three goldfish, pleco, and a dwarf frog. They all do great! The goldfish do not bother any of the other fish but they are big pigs. I use a solution in the water to combat the amonia and nitrates. I also change the water every for days.

Yes, I agree with the previous answers, Goldfish's like their water temperature to be from 45 - 75, they can tolerate up to 80, but the numbers before are recommended for the species. Not to mention the water PH. Also Goldfish are very dirty, and the Tetras would want their water cleaner; This will be very hard to achieve with the Goldfish. The rest of the fish you have with them like their temperature from 78-82. I'd suggest doing a little research before putting a tank together with the fish, there are great varieties. Good luck with your tank :)
