Tattoo Artist Responsibility?

Dose or should the Tattoo Artist have a Responsibility to the costumer of their choice of Tattoo? For example We all know that motorcycles and Tattoos some times go hand in hand. I was hang out at a buddies shop where some hard core motorcycles riders get work done.

A guy come in and Asked so a Son of Anarchy tat like in the TV show Every thing stopped dead still. I broke the quite and asked if he was kidding he said no. I told him that way a bad Ideal and he should go NOW. He got in is car and left. Would some tattoo Artist ink him knowing that a tat like that could get the costumer hurt?

I agree, if the tattoo is just far to out there and the artist disagrees with it he should have the right of refusal. I know a shop that won't do hands, feet or necks. It's all about what the tattoo artist feels comfortable with.

That's pretty funny, did this dude walking in know it wasn't even a real club? that makes it even funnier... HA!

You're damn rights the tat artists know better, I do tats and have been told very clearly... no red & white tats on non members, the guy wearing it will definitely get a wake up call, but the ink slinger will also get some unwanted attention.

Maybe I'm too fussy, but I won't even do the lucky 13 spade on someone that doesn't deal. just cause you smoke it doesn't mean you should be entitled to wear it, and there have been a few buddies that didn't even know what it meant and wanted it cause they thought it looked cool

But all that said, on the other hand, I've also tattoo minors, cause i don't work out of a shop, i do them as an amateur... so that doesn't say much about me, lol

The customer can ask for whatever he / she wants. Some guy around here has highly offensive runic symbols on his face with other trash as well. I sincerely hope he enjoys these however it is my wish he enjoy them alone.

No self respecting artist has any obligation to create what is offensive. I know a tattooist who will not do names. Its the artist's choice. If the customer is so desperate to cover him/herself so, let them learn to ink.

The artist has a right to refuse to do any work he does not want to do, the customer has a right to get what ever they want. If you wont do it they will find someone who will its sad but you have to stand up for ignorant **** like that.

I wasn't aware sons of anarchy was a real life gang, I thought it was a fictional show, which if I'm correct no-one will hurt him he'll just look like an idiot. That's like some irish guy going in and getting some tattoo like he's part of the soprano family a fictional tv mobster family you know. I think a good tattoo artist should say something when someone wants to do something really stupid, dont necessarily talk them out of it but make sure they know what they really want.

None with an ounce of sence

That could lead to serious problems for the artist and the customer

    I wont go into details

The vast majority of tattoo artists I know would not put ink on someone that is not earned. For example a USMC Eagle, globe and Anchor would not go on someone who has never served in the USMC or has not already enlisted. A Navy Seals Trident Ring would NEVER be inked to someone who hasn't been part of the teams. Most tattoo artists know or have a good understanding on what symbols are what, and would ask questions to people who request them.

As with any group you could search and find someone who will put ink on anyone with money but they would not stay in the Business long.

I absolutely believe that they should be responsible! Some serious repercussions can take place if certain things are tattoo on people they don't belong on. Plus I would think that would also happen to the person who tattooed it on them as well. Outside of that guys stupidity, you did him the biggest favor he will never truly comprehend. Thumbs up to you Bonez!

A tattoist in it for the money (Tourist trap towns) will lay down allmost any ink because they know that they wont see the person again. A custom shop is a lot more carefull because their name and reputation depend on their work. In Wisconsin check out this shop.
