Religion Help! Christianity and Judaism?

1 Christians and Jews, though both monotheistic, differ on the nature of God, insofar as Christians describe God as Trinity. What is that Christian belief?

2 Jews call all kinds of guys “son of God,” but for Christians that phrase has a unique, distinct referent, Jesus. How do Christians explain the relationship of Jesus to God? In your answer refer to the Trinity.

3 What is the Christian idea of “original sin”?

4 Is the belief called “original sin” shared with Jews, or is it uniquely Christian? Briefly, compare and contrast Judaism and Christianity on the nature of sin.

1a As a Christian, I believe that God the Father, Word & Holy Spirit is One Creator God (since the beginning). And have read about God the Father, God the Word & God the Holy Spirit; in the Old Testament.

1b As a Christian, I know that the Word of God left His Position as God, to come to earth & be the Lamb of God without blemish. To be a human like one of us. So the miracles that He did, were really done by the Power of the Holy Spirit, & not by His own power. He is an example for us who later believe in Him & who get baptized in the Holy Spirit. We also can pray for others to be healed, etc... & healings are done by the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

He did die on the cross alone. Our sins separated Jesus from Gods heart. So His humanness died for us. He had to do this in His humanity to overcome the curse of sin & death for us. He is the Seed of the Woman who crushes the serpents head (Genesis3:15). And since He bore our sins on the cross (Isaiah53) & raised from the dead. We, who are redeemed by His Blood will also raise up like He did (in Resurrection Day complete).

God is also Judge. And Jesus said that He didn't come to earth to judge us, but to restore us to Father Gods heart. The sin the Holy Spirit convicts the world of is not believing in Father Gods Only Begotten Son. And not coming to repentance of this. The will of the Father is that we believe in His Son. That we trust & obey Jesus. Jesus gave His life for us! He raised from the dead for us!

2 Jesus Is the Word of God in the beginning. And is Creator with the Father & the Holy Spirit. When Jesus came to earth, He was the seed of the Woman & conceived by the Holy Spirit (not mans seed). So he didn't have sin nature in His humanity. In the Gospels, Jesus relationship with Father God was one heart. Jesus was without sin, so He always had a heart connection with God.

When we are young, our hearts are soft & pliable & love... But when we grow older & get hurt or get into rebellion, we get a hardened heart. And so our heart is disconnected from Gods heart. Not so with Jesus. Who wasn't born with sin nature, but was born of the seed of the woman so could have sinned (been deceived) like the first Adam. When He was baptized with the Holy Spirit & led into the wilderness to be tempted of that old serpent; He knew the Torah & He wasn't deceived, nor did He commit willful sin.

Jesus said that He & the Father are One. Meaning that there was always a heart connection between Him & the Father. At least until our sins were put on His human body on the cross, & our sins separated Jesus from His Father's heart. Jesus died of a broken heart.

3 There are two parts of original sin. The woman Adam was deceived (Jesus was born of the womans seed). The man Adam was in willful disobedience (Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit & so Is Emanuel, the Son of God), Jesus wasn't born with sin nature (tendency to willful sin).

4a Christian Jews believe Jesus is the 'Seed of the Woman' also. Like Perry Stone or Sid Roth. They know Jesus Is the Lamb of God without blemish since the foundation.

4b Regarding Judaism Jews, I would also like to know what they think is the root nature of sin also.

Cher..., thanks for not being too mean. Paul of the New Testament was a perfect Pharasee in Judaism, until he was blinded by the Light of Christ, then healed, & then believed in Yeshua Messiah. Paul wrote to the Romans, in Romans2:28,29; (Regarding circumcision) 28 For he is not a Jew, who is one outwardly ; neither is that circumcision, that is outward in the flesh: 29 But he is Jew, who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

This is according to the New Testament that is in Jesus shed blood for remission of our sins & His body broken for us (Passover).

In the Old Testament, is an everlasting Covenant between the LORD God & the Jews. And Jews can choose to be of this Old Covenant also. Why are you & yours in Judaism judging & condemning Jews who choose Yeshua Messiah of the New Covenant through faith in Yeshua Messiah? You are making your selves self righteous critical condemning judges of fellow Jews who love God. Who made you gods?!!

Judaism is the Old Testament Covenant. Yeshua Messiah's shed blood & broken body for the atonement for our sins is the New Testament Covenant.

I believe both are everlasting covenants.

And I don't harrass Judaism. But I know that Judaism harrasses me just because I believe Jews who love Jesus Christ are still Jewish. And I have a connection to Jewishness through Jesus Christ my Lord & Savior.

But Judaism's heart will never be restored to Gods heart until they believe in Yeshua Messiah. And that will happen & all Israel will be saved!

You've started your research into Judaism. There is a lot to learn about it. Join a Gerus (conversion) group (such as orthodoxconversiontojudaism that has a great on-line book calle Gerus Steps), pick up To Be A Jew, and continue with your research. I'm not sure how old you are. If you are a minor and your parents opose your converison, then no rabbi will talk to you until your 18th birthday. If you want to ask me some questions, use the yahoo questions email feature, it will permit you to maintain your anonymity. Good luck.

Thank you for asking this question = )

    01. The Christians believe God is made up in three parts; the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit meanwhile Jews just believe in God (gender-less).

    02. Christians believe Jesus was the direct son of God (and thus is God) meanwhile Jews believe no son (or anyone) can be born better since we are all created equally. The idea of Jesus as a deified man is an apostate to the Jewish faith.

    03. Christians believe because Adam and Eve "sinned" in Genesis that we are all born in original sin or an inclination to sin. Jews believe we are all born pure without sin.

    04. Uniquely Christian because Jews believe in no such concept.

Ultimately, to add, Jews believe ALL of the righteous (regardless of religion) will go to Heaven meanwhile most conservative Christians believe you must accept Christ or go to Hell (the more liberal Christians are more open minded).

Edit: I'd go with Paperback's answer, and I would strongly advise clicking her link "jew with a view" to get a more in-depth analysis on the differences of Judiasm and Christianity. Excellent site (as her answers are always great).

Side note: Jesus was born and died an observant Jew......

    1) the trinity isn't monotheistic by Jewish standrads.

    2) everyone is a child of god, by Jewish standards lifting a single person as more divine in the way that many christians do, is idolotorous.

    3) ---

    4) no. there is no Original Sin concept in Judaism.

in Judaism sin is seen very differently, its not an evil corruptive stain, but rather a mistake... a wrongdoing.

correcting Sean, no, Original sin is a matter of inteperetation. while the event is shared, what meaning the event is given is *entirely* different.

I have come to the conclusion that Christians in fact do NOT, in large, follow the same God as Judaism does. too many too fundamental differences.

and as far as homeworkyness... eh. I'ev seen worse. theres a chance, IMO, that its actually legit.

answer: Jews don't believe in original sin. Mankind can sin, that's Free Will. Mankind is not born "in sin" like some Christian denominations believe.

There are NO such things as Christian Jews. There are deceivers who use the term or even worse, Messianic Jews in attempts to convert Jews to Christianity and destroy the religion and culture while they "sing the praises" of Judaism.

Paul/Saul was NOT a Pharisee - he was an apostate Romanized former Jew. The teacher he supposedly studied under forgot to even note he had a student named Saul who had an epileptic fit on the side of the road and went nuts for a new cult within Judaism. Paul did NOT teach Judaism, even a reform Judaism - he taught a watered down form of Judaism with a majority of paganism thrown in.

TA is not being harassed. Correcting misinformation, lies and deception is not harassment - it's self defense. Deceiving others to convert them is harassment.

Wow, four huge questions. This is probably not the best format to ask. Perhaps if you broke it up into four or five separate questions. Is this for an essay or something? Books have been written on all of these subjects. You are asking for a lot of information.

Er, FIREBALL? We WROTE what you call 'Genesis'!!!! So yeah - I think we are 'aware' of it!!! The original name for it is Bereshit, by the way.

    To the asker:

1 - there is no 'trinity' in Judaism. We are pure monotheism, like Islam. We worship ONE G-d. We believe in ONE G-d.

2 - in Judaism ALL humans are the 'children of G-d'. We are all EQUAL. It is not possible for any *one* man to be 'the son of god'. Jesus was 'a son of god'. Just like every other man ever to walk the earth.

3 - there is no 'original sin' in Judaism. We do not believe in it. We think that all humans are born pure and innocent. It is not possible to 'inherit' sin. Nor is it possible for one man to die for the sins of others. Each person is responsible for his/her own sins.

    edit **************************

As every single Jew - and many NON Jews have now explained over, and over, and over to TAMIL: there is no such thing as a 'christian jew'.

As I'm sure the asker of this post can see, the two religions contradict one another. Nobody can belong to both. If you're Jewish, you're a Jew

If you're Christian, you are a Christian.

    Definition of 'jewish':

    - person born to a Jewish mother

    - person who converts to Judaism

Now, clearly neither of these definitions includes 'person who is a christian'!!!

    TAMIL, please STOP spreading misinformation.

    **********************************************

TAMIL - oh, so now we are 'harassing' you when we CORRECT YOUR LIES ABOUT ***OUR*** RELIGION????

Shame on you. What, I should sit here in utter silence while you LIE about us?

I've politely explained to you already: there is NO such thing as a 'jew who worships jesus'.

Are there Christians who worship Mohammed?

Are there Hindus who love Christ?

Are there Scientologists who bow before Shiva?

    No?

    No!

Now apply that same logic to JUDAISM. A Jew who converts to Christianity is a CHRISTIAN.

    1) the trinity is the Father (God), Son (Jesus), and Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit)

    2) Jesus is the son of God, God incarnate

    3) Adam & Eve, the snake, the apple, don't eat from this tree, etc

    4) it is the same because they come from the OT

    2. Jews don't call anyone "son of God". Well, unless you count that we are all God's children. It's not a reference to a human-God aspect in any way. (Christianity using the term son of God for Jesus is referencing a human God aspect.)

    4. Judaism believes each person to be born good. The goal of religion is not to be perfect & unsinful & to appease God through symbolic human sacrifice for our sins so he rewards us with good. That Christain concept is not a part of Judaism in any way, & didn't derive from Judaism. (It's from other religions that were around at the time.)

The point in Judaism is a moral code by which to live so one can connect to one's better self & be elevated in that way in a connection to God. One isn't expected to be perfect, that's not the point. Mostly the point is to figure out how to live life wisely. Asking for forgiveness for mistakes in Judaism requires making amends to the person you harmed. To those mistakes which you feel were against God, you simply ask/pray.

Judaism does not have a fixed concept of what happens afterlife. God welcomes all both Jews & non-Jews based on their overall actions. Only the most evil that can not be "rehabitated" kind of vanish. There is no hell. God is unknowable & so is what happens after life & it isn't possible to understand everything or why it happens.

Judiasm reads the Genesis story of Adam & Eve as the loss of innocence, NOT as fallen or gaining of original sin. With that loss of innocense comes a change in how one relates to the world. It's the first step in the long journey of spiritual growth & change that the Torah describes. Mostly it describes about the Jewish people, but in this case it's starting before the Jewish people.

    ===============

    As Tami

describes so well, Christian "Jews" are actually Christians believing Christains beliefs. Jews dont' believe in original sin. It's sinful thought to insist on calling yourself Jewish when you you're Christian. Why can't we Jews be left alone to practice our own religion in peace. Why does it scare "these" Chrsitians so much? It's actually a form of violence (invasion) to not leave us alone.

    con't

You're not harrassing Judaism but have the nerve to judge us: "But Judaism's heart will never be restored to Gods heart until they believe in Yeshua Messiah."

We have no comment on Christainity & you if moral would have NONE on Judaism. We don't condem Jews who believe jesus -- we call then Christians. AND SO SHOULD YOU. I can not believe the lack of self-pride you have in christianity that you can not bring yourself call someone believing in Jesus a Christian.

A lamb goes to the slaughter without knowing that it is about to be killed for sacrifice. But the suffering servant, the Passover Lamb, went to the slaughter for the supreme sacrifice of himself both knowingly and willingly.

Who can do that ?. Not a man !.

Everybody can kill but not everybody can go to death without making any resistance. That's why humans are born sinners. It's impossible to live a sinless life on this earth, except if you're G_d.
