We have just added a Travertine wall to our kitchen. It has been grouted and sealed.....?

with a water based stone enhancer and sealer. The sealer looked fantastic when it was wet but the wall looks unimpressive since it dried. My question is can I use a varnish or lacquer over the sealer to give the stones a polished shiny look or would I end up with a mess. HELP PLEASE...Thanks. Pic included.

Beautiful wall, i think this but ask someone at the hardware store before you do this, Since travertine is just a stone you should be able to use the same type of finish as you would use for marble or granite to give that nice shiny look. I have a limestone step going into my house and i used the same type of glaze as i used on my saltillo tile. Dont do it though till you make sure its ok, would hate to help you screw up that beautiful wall.

It doesn't look bad in the picture. Travertine is not intended to be shinny. If you wanted gloss then marble would have been better. But there is a gloss sealer you can buy that helps give you that "wet" look.

DO NOT PUT ANYTHING ELSE ON THAT! It's supposed to have a dull finish, that's the kind of stone it is. you can call a stone and tile store and see if they having that would give it a little sheen but it's not supposed to have a shiny look.

I wouldnt think that polishing it would hurt anything
