Are touch screen phones stylus' universal?

I'm soon going to receive my Verizon Glyde in the mail. Unfortunately, I've read some pretty discouraging reviews on Amazon about the touch screen (and the phone in general). I'm thinking maybe I can circumvent the problems, MAYBE the destruction lies in pressing it too hard, so I want to buy a stylus. Will the LCD screen respond to absolutely any stylus, including those meant for hand held game consoles like the Nintendo DS? If features or a brand in particular could be recommended, that would be appreciated.

I just don't want to believe it's a royally bad phone, especially since I haven't even received it yet.

    Any stylus should work on the screan. But it probebly will not fit in the slot for the sylus that comes with that phone.

    You can you a normal pen with the lid on for a stylus.
