For a Baby Boy --- Name to go with his sister's?
Our daughter's name is Katherine Virginia (we call her Kat).
Hubby and I really like the name Dane, but I'm not sure if its a bad name or not. We like it and that is supposed to be all that matters, but...
Other names we've considered:
Graham
Liam
Ian
James
Colin
These names are indicative of the fact that we like traditional. Don't give me your Aiden/Jaden/Kaden/Raiden crap.
I have NEVER seen 69 answers in 22 minutes!!!
Thank you all so much!
I'm keeping a running tally:
Graham has 11 votes
Liam 14
Ian 12
James 24

How about Colin Dane and they could be Kat and Colin, with the strength of the name Dane still there and he could be called by it in some situations, or by the first and middle together.
Oh, and Aiden actually is quite an old name, just for the record, but I don't think it would sound as good with Kat.

I think Dane is a nice name. Not my favorite but it's okay. But really all that matters is that you like it. Dane means "God is my Judge".
Personally, I LOVE the names: Graham, Liam, and Colin.
Here are the meanings of those:
Graham: From Granta's Village
Liam: Strong-willed Warrior
Colin: Diminutive Form Of Nicholas
Another name I love is Cullen (similar to Colin) and Campbell. HEre are those meaning
Cullen: Back Of A River
Campbell: Crooked Mouth (I know the meaning isn't so great but I think the name sounds nice.
JUst in case it's helpful to you here are the meanings of the other names you listed:
Ian: God Is Gracious
James: Supplanter
Remember the most important thing is finding a name both you and your hubby like. Congratulations on your baby!
Good Luck! =)

Dane is an awesome name! i would either go with Dane, Liam or James. The other 3 names you got there (and please dont take offense) sound kind of like old names. They're not bad names, just oldish names :) What about Dane Liam .. Or James Liam.
Congrats on the pregnancy too!! :)

Not to sound mean but do you parents even consider the abuse you could put a kid through! I am sorry but trust me he will get his a$$ kicked in school with names like Dane and Ian and Graham and such
there kind of fruity names for a guy
Personally go with Colin its nice and a GUYS name

James is a cool name. honestly when i hear Dane to go with Kat, it reminds of a cat and dog. Like a Great Dane and a cat. No offense, by itself it sounds fine but the names together don't really go together in my opinion. of course, like you said it is your choice, i am only giving my opinion. I do like the name James, it sounds very cute/good with katherine.

Colin and Katherine is a great combo in my opinion.
I like Dane, but honestly it isn't that traditional and it doesn't flow with Katherine as well as James, Colin, or Ian. Congrats and good luck!

How about Dog? Hehe.
I like Dane! Uh Oh ... Great Dane, again with the Dog ... Sorry!
I think you may want to go with a C or K name ... Kat & Colin sounds good.

I totally agree that the only thing that really matters is what you like but then again you do have to consider that your kid will have to live with that name for his whole life. Pick a name that would have the least possible ways of being made fun of. But I really like the names Ian and James and they are both good and safe names.
