    Hi,

    x = electrician nours

    y = plumber hours

    z = carpenter hours

    x + y + z = 18

    24x + 25y + 21.5z = 425

    x - z = -2

    I solved this using an augmented 3 x 4 matrix on my calculator.

    x = 4, y = 8, z = 6

    x = 4 electrician nours

    y = 8 plumber hours

    z = 6 carpenter hours

    I hope that helps!! :-)

    The carpenter worked 2 more hours than the electrician did.

    Let us have x = the number of hours that the electrician worked

    x+2 = the number of hours for the carpenter.

    Then y = the number of hours for the plumber

    they worked a total of 18 hours :

    x + x+2 +y = 18

    2x +y = 16

    earned a total of $425.

    24x + 21.5(x+2) + 25y = 425

    45.5x +25y = 382

    Above you have two equations in terms of x & y I will leave it to you to finish the problem.
