Anyone ever get the Book of your family from Ancestry.com?

I am thinking about doing one for my parents for Christmas. Is it worth it?

Don't bother if you are expecting a serious history, those books are nothing more than a few generalities cobbled together concerning all surnames and a little maybe about the supposed origin of your own surname, much of it will be of a very dubious nature and have nothing whatever to do with your own family's history.

It is simply not feasible to produce one book that details every family history for every family with the same surname, not everyone with the same surname is related so each family history is entirely different.

Basically they are nothing but a scam !!

I agree with the first 2 posters. However, if it is only a book printed based on your surname, they aren't worth the paper on which they are printed.

Not everyone with the same surname are necessarily of the same national origin. Also not all are necessarily related, even those of the same national origin.

If you are talking about the book you create from the family info on your tree, your parents will be very pleased.

Be sure to add photos of as many generations as possible, so it will be even more special for them.
