Orville Redenbacker (sp?) is the best. Here's a few tips to make it great. Use a wok to cook it it. The slanted sides allow the heat to be concentrated only on the area of the kernals, so the popcorn doesn't burn as you make it. Also, use a finely ground salt for seasoning, The larger salts (like sea salt) don't stick to the popcorn and end up on the bottom of the bowl.

In my opinion scratch is always the better unless it is ketchup then I prefer the store bought. As for popcorn this is a hard one, lately I have been making mine from scratch. I do like the convenience of the microwave brands and Jiffy makes a great product. The fact that all the popcorn gets butter or what ever it is called factors in on this decision. I hope that I have been help to you in this matter.

Scratch isn't bad, if you use a combo of butter for flavor and oil for heat stability.
I like Act II butter flavor m/w popcorn.

I have never tried making home popcorn even though I have the kernels in my cupboard waiting to be made.
I prefer shop bought ones with toffee on top. Yummy
