Which is better for editing photos: Photoshop/Corel/PagePlus SE 1.0?

I currently am using PagePlus SE l.0 to make a card that requires to insert a baby photo that I would like it to be oval. I need an easy step by step on how to change a square photo to oval - can someone please help me? I have upgraded htoshop, corel and pageplus psoftwares, but I am getting very frustrated because I cannot get it right. I appreciate your help - this photo is needed asap so that I can complete this card.

Update:

thank you for your advice, can you still change the image in a oval shape rather than regular photo shape working with Microsoft Paint? I want the photo to look oval and antiquish..vintage...If someone could please invent a easy step by step FREE program! I've spent $ in downloading something that is very complex!

Update 2:

Web Novice, how do I get ahold of you?>

I always have the same problems with Photo Shop. I know this seems kind of dumb, but i do most basic stuff in Microsoft Paint. This is because Adobe products always seem easy to perform complex designs but never basic ones. So i always use paint and import my graphic into Photo Shop. And if you need to be able to enlarge the raster image(pixelized), i suggest bitmap trace on CorelDraw. If you need further insight, just drop me a message.
