Will they let me on the plane with an expired ID?

not with an expired ID. Take your social security card or other government issued ID and a second ID. Birth certificate and Social Security card would be perfect. You will then get extra screening in both directions.
Of course a passport over rides everything else. If you have one take it.

Do you have a passport? If you do, then you have nothing to worry about. If you don't call the airline, and then the airport. Sometimes they have alternative ways of getting on a plane, ex. your expired id, your social security card and another photo id may be enough.
Goodluck!

just use another form of identification such as a passport, or if you are a student, a student ID from your school

Call the airline....and fast!
Better to find out directly from the airline; if they won't allow it, they may be able to suggest what can be done.
Good luck!
