It's not recent, it's been done for years ...
Depends on the song and how heavy it is, but there's rap rock, there's nu metal, etc. It can be good.
I bet you'd be surprised to hear of classical music mixed with heavy metal, then .... but that's been done since the 80s.

For Busta Rhymes ft. Linkin Park - We Made It, the music genre would be considered Hip-Hop or Pop.

It's because people are always looking for new things and new ways to do things. I think it's nice that people like to experiment with anything in general. You never know, people may come up with something good.
