Where do I start to get back in school?

I am a 26yo stay at home dad. I want to go back to school because I really want to be a teacher. I dont care if I take the classes slowly and am not a teacher till 35, I still want to teach. I dont know where to start. Do I fill out the fafsa then pick schools? Do I apply to schools then fill out the fafsa? Can anyone give me a good step by step to place me on the right track to getting back in school?

Call your local colleges, even online ones to see what they have to offer in terms of obtaining an education degree. Most programs are 2 years or less, so you will be well into teaching before you're 30. :-) Once you've contacted the school, you could be referred to a counselor that'll help you schedule your courses and lead you on your way. Best of luck!

I changed careers at 31, from office management to teaching. I went to University of Phoenix Online. I took all my classes via the internet and it was quite a fast process. Really, you have a great attitude because the next 10 years will go by whether you do something about your dreams or not. You may as well get started. I already had an undergraduate degree so I got my Masters in education - but if you do not have your undergraduate degree yet you can get that in education. For UOP, just call their 800 number and they can explain exactly how to get started. Good luck.

Regardless of where you go, first you pick the school then you fill out the fasfa. The school admissions will have a representative that can help you with taking care of every step in the process.

It will help you find a college in your area, one that can meet your needs, and it lays out tuition costs. Yes, if you want to file for federal aid you need to fill out a fasfa for that particular schools date.
