If ACORN is so bad, why does John McCain attend their events?

http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1008/Acorn_...

Are Republicans aware of the distinction between voter fraud and voter registration fraud, or that some states actually purge voters from the rolls?

http://www.alternet.org/democracy/92695/?page=enti...

Update:

Mr. Weekly World News: Did I ever say anything beyond McCain attending their events? No I didn't did I. In mind of Sean Hannity, that means that McCain agrees with everything ACORN has ever done or said. Now if you can agree with me that McCain is not responsible for voter registration fraud because he attended ACORN sponsored events, we can both agree that Obama is not responsible for terrorism for attending meetings with Bill Ayers and that at worst, he has "shady" ties with an organization that has demonstrable evidence of McCain "palling" around with their leaders at their events.

Update 2:

The point is not that McCain is friendlier with ACORN than Obama. Obviously not, as they are an advocacy group for poor people. The point is that this is a legitimate political group with vast operations, 1.3 million members, outreach in many different areas. Which means that the fact that Obama did work with them or gave/received money does not prove that he is in any way connected to voter registration fraud. That's the point.

So McCain attended one event? And there were other orginations represented too.

Did Acorn give McCain loads of money?

Did McCain act as their lawyer and trainer as Obama did?

    This won't fly, my friend!

I don't think that it is ACORN being so bad, it is just his latest round of

voter registration fraud that is bad.

Attending a meeting is different that associating with them. Ayers is an unrepentant terrorist but that does not mean that Obama is a terrorist but his association with him does show the type of character that he has.

Obama and Ayers worked at the Woods Foundation for many years and after the 9/11 bombing of the WTC Ayers said that he was saddened that he didn't do more and he said it in a public speech. This would have been the time for Obama to get out but he didn't.

I would not say that McCain is friendlier that Obama is, here is a quote

    from November 2007

I’ve been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work. — Barack Obama, Speech to ACORN, November 2007

Obama has some dangerous associations that really need to be looked in to.

“The beleaguered Democratic-leaning community group Acorn sends over this photograph: John McCain, in March of 2006, sitting beside Florida Rep. Kendrick Meek at an event Acorn co-sponsored in Florida.

The immigration event, which other photos show was packed with red-shirted Acorn member, was co-sponsored by the local Catholic Archdiocese, the SEIU, and other groups.

McCain, still spiting much of his party on immigration at the time, was the headliner.

A spokesman goes on to say that the organization is saddened "to see Senator McCain abandon his historic support for ACORN." Meanwhile, I'm heartened to see them finally fighting back. “

(See, we're supposed to not care about that. 2006 was a looooong time ago.) ;)

You should read the whole article next time. It explained that he was there in 2006 because of the work he was doing in relationship to immigration reform. And ACORN was not the only sponsor of the event.

  • Shhhh, that's not what they want to hear. Acorn has been under attack since it's inception. No political figure has ever been tied to the acts of ACORN.

You might try reading your own sources in the future. It was an ACORN sponsored event. Doesn't say anything about McCain embracing them, giving them 800k like Obama did. You really owned yourself here.
