Do the Gideons put Bibles in rooms hoping that people will take them?

It's ok if you do. The Gideons have been clear about that.

The Bible is Public Domain. The Gideons probably have a "write off" on them and if any thing, they probably like it when they have to buy more for people who want one.

I would. That's why I offer free bibles too.

If you want it to read and learn about God. They would love for you to have it. Their Mission is: "The mission of The Gideons International is to win the lost for Christ, and our unique method is the distribution of Scripture in selected streams of life"

No they put them in hotel & motel rooms because they hope people will read them.

They are put there for two reasons I assume, one to read and share the Word of God and two, to take home or with you if you so desire to do so.... I do not believe they object to people taking home the Word of God...... It is to share !!!! go in peace.... God bless
