Why would a Fraud Investigator call me?
I had a message on my voice mail from the other day. It was some lady who did not give her name telling me that she was an asset recovery fraud investigator, and that I needed to call her "immediately".
Just wondering what this could be about, because as far as I know, I have never taken part in any fraud. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if it might be a scam....

It may well be a scam. Do not call back, especially if she did not give you her specifics. If you do ever talk to someone like that, don't give them your personal info, your home address, credit card numbers, SSN, none of it.

First and foremost she was very unprofessional by not leaving her name.
You state as FAR as you can remember you never took part in a fraud!!
Perhaps not you but do you know of someone that has?
Then again if you are clean and you know of know-one who has committed fraud it could be a 1 joke someones playing on you or 2 its a scam.
If you have the number check with your better Business bureau.
Good luck and and be cautious.

Be careful with this. A legitimate business or office will always use real name and give information about themselves first. It may be that something you returned to a store triggered some investigation?
I'd be very careful about giving out personal information.

Prior to calling, get a credit check on yourself. RESIST the Investigator's request to give any number over the phone (e.g. SS#, DL#). Tell her prior to disclosing any info over the phone, you need to see the request in writing. Another thing, call your major creditors and see if any weird activity is happening with your accounts.
Good luck!!

100 to 1 that's a scam. If she was legit she would have left her name and company name and asked for you to return her call. I'd wait and let her call me back and see what she says and if she fails to id herself hang up after telling her to never call you again.

possibly the wrong number? did they say your name? if they did i would call them but be cautious because people can trick you out of important information. if they ask you for anything personal like credit card numbers and what not tell them you dont want to give out that information over the phone and if there is another way to do this.

It sounds like a scam. You should probably call the police and see if they may have heard about this situation.

Probably a bill collector.
