I love the dark, and I think it's because I'm sunlight sensitive.
I don't remember very many night scenes in "The Exorcist", though. Most of the experiences happened in the afternoon.
Edit: Many are afraid of the dark. There was a series called "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" and it was similar to The Twilight Zone.

No, I don't. But legend said that in the dark one's energy will be lowered and if that person is drained in terms of his own energy, then that person will be likely affected by evil spirits, this sounds unbelievable but if a person's living place has been filled with ghosts, then this would likely to happen. In the dark, ghosts are very much active and they are on the upper hand which one can get rid of it, only in a very passive way, but do somethings then better doing nothing. One can wear Cross, carry Holy Water, carrying Bible Verses or pray.

I never liked the dark as a child. Though nowadays I walk to bed through a pitch dark house. I don't really remember how or when it changed. But it's really nothing to be ashamed of. It is a primal fear.

Not the dark per se, but Morpheus and me are old foes. He never comes and brings me sleep easily and consistently. And in the dark, without outside stimuli to occupy my senses, my mind turns inward upon itself, and that can frightening indeed.
