Why does 1/sqrrt(x) = sqrrt(x) / x?

I saw a few problems similar to this while grading some of my dad's papers and it piqued my curiosity. Can anyone explain why these two equal eachother?

    sqrrt(x)/x = sqrrt(x)/[sqrrt(x)*sqrrt(x)]

Then one of the sqrrt on top cancels with one on the bottom.

    That's why.
