The reasons are:
1. You have to have 15 points in the national polls to be eligible for invitation to the debate. The committee has had these rules established for a long time. While people on the committee might be dem or rep (most the country is) this has nothing to do with who is invited to the debate.
2. I agree all candidates deserve to be heard. If the candidate was unable to get his/her message out then it is assumed a waste of airtime for the corporations to give them air time and take away from the two leading candidates. This could have something to do with the profiting form airtime I admit

I can give you three answers. Choose one or all of the above.
Because the debates are controlled by a corporation run by a former democrat and a former republican. Because 99% of our radio, TV, and newpapers are owned by 6 corporations. Because most americans are gullible enough to think that A or B really represents a choice.

Because the major parties control the format of the debate, thus it is in their interest to exclude third party candidates.

Because until they learn how to get themselves out there, they'll always be negligible, sorry. They have to massively campaign, to even really be a full fledge contender. They need a campaign like Obama's.

They don't need to be heard because they won't win and they come close to becoming the President so there is no need to waste time hearing bout they have to say .no offence if you support them

its because they have less money.
it truly seems like the media chooses the candidates

Because they got negligent support.
