Doesn't McCain know that Sarah Palin's son has down's syndrome, not autism?

he got that wrong in the debate... perhaps factual details are not his strong suit

He also said Putin's the President of Germany and Iraq and Pakistan share a border

Ah McCain you've done it again!

Mccain mistakenly believes that just because Palin has a down syndrome child she has now become an expert on autism. I believe that it is just a campaign ploy. Autism effects so many children currently that by making such a claim Mccain hopes that the large numbers of parents with autistic children will come flocking to the Mccain /Palin ticket. as with so many other things Mccain is wrong again.

he's an idiot. Once he said autism, I wanted someone to inform him that the kid has down syndrome. But I guess when you suffer from dementia, you mix things up like that. And yeah you can point out that Obama said 58 states in whatever speech you're referring to, but McCain referred to Trig's "autism" repeatedly as if it were fact.

And the little McCain supporters get upset at Obama for being intelligent and composed when McCain and Palin are blowing their own opportunity. Shame on you, your racism shows. So does your socio-economic prejudice. The only people worried about taking from the rich and giving to the poor are rich people. You may argue that they worked for what they have but you'd be surprised how many inherited (Cindy McCain) or did shady things to get their money. It's that same type of greed that has caused the collapse of Wall Street. And last time I checked, when you give tax cuts to 95% of working Americans (and based on the math I learned in 2nd grade, 95% is a majority) that's an overall tax cut. McCain keeps saying he's increasing taxes because he's worried about the money that's he's leeching from his wife and he's worried about his rich friends. Based on the $250,000 limit, Obama would be taking increased taxes out of his own pocket.

He probably mentioned autism because the rate of the incidence of autism has gone from 1 in every 10000 to 1 in every 104 babies born in the US. This rate has gone up that much in just the last 10-15 years. I'm not sure if autism is used to cover all such maladies or if he is just trying to make people aware of what a serious issue this has become.

I think McCain's problem in debates is that he thinks the American public actually keeps up with what is going on and he doesn't thoroughly explain himself. That is hard to do in 30 second answers.

Yes, but he was speaking about autism, not Palin's son at that very moment, as autism related to the parent of an autistic child that he had spoken to. No, he didn't get that wrong. I believe you are mistaken.

Palin has another special needs child...Bristol, she needs maternity clothes, and a new math book.

Factual details? Like ACORN mega-$$$ for the process of election-rigging? (shocks anyone?)

Actually this is a mistake that HELPS, because Autism needed mention and a champion as well, and he was right about what he was talking about on that topic. As far as gaffe's go -- it was spot on.

(And Obama didn't know, or correct him either there, Einstein.)

In the heat of battle that will happen.

Obama and his 58 states is case in point.

I can let that one go but I can't let go how Obama thinks we need to take money from the rich and give it to the poor.

    That detail is pretty moot!

Both are challenges that last a lifetime.

Now... let's talk about IMPORTANT details... like ARES and ACORN and SOCIALIZED MEDICINE - and the DEM's idea that POOR PEOPLE should have homes, and we should pay for them.
