Any chance he climbed the cage and fell and hurt himself? Hamsters really aren't supposed to climb - they live in underground tunnels, not trees. Unfortunately cage manufactures ignore this fact, which leads to many getting injured from ill designed cages that allow climbing. Bin cages are much safer.

What kind of hamster is it? Mine was a dwarf, and they only live about a year and a half. If your hamster is a dwarf like mine, it might simply be that he's getting old. (Kinda like how old people get shaky.) But if your hamster is a normal hamster, it shouldn't be getting to old age by now... take it to a vet.

If I was you I would either at least call a vet if you are concerned, or in my opinion you need to get your hamster to the vet. I don't know what could be the problem but he/she might of hurt themself. If it does have medical problems it is best to know what they are so you know what to feed and treat it. I wish you the very best for you and your hamster!

    Good luck!

It could have a hurt paw. My hamster used to chew on its nails and then they would bleed and it would be hurting. I would take it to the vet though just to make sure that it isn't seriously hurt.
